Get ready for a poetry experience like no other! Stuart Clark's "A Pen, some paper and a coupla pints" is a rollicking journey through absurd situations and larger-than-life characters that'll leave you gasping for air and begging for more.
"A Pen, some paper and a coupla pints" is a delightful collection of humorous narrative poems penned by the witty Aussie-Englishman, Stuart Clark. Inspired by his time living in Jersey from the mid-seventies to the mid-eighties, Clark draws from his experiences working alongside Irishmen of various backgrounds. These Irishmen, with their big hearts and infectious humor, left an indelible mark on Clark, influencing the colorful characters and lively anecdotes within the pages of this book.

In his introduction, Clark hints at the lively spirit of the Irishmen he encountered, who were equally ready to burst into song or engage in a friendly scuffle at a moment's notice. With a nod to the vibrant personalities he encountered, Clark assures readers that while some characters depicted in his poems may seem too outrageous to be real, many are based on living, breathing individuals who refuse to conform to societal norms, instead choosing to revel in the joyous atmosphere of camaraderie and banter, always eager to share a laugh and embrace the craic.

Through his playful verses, Clark invites readers into a world where laughter reigns supreme, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and where the joy of storytelling knows no bounds. "A Pen, some paper and a coupla pints" promises to be a rollicking journey filled with laughter, mischief, and the timeless charm of good company.
Printer, Builder, Poet
Stuart Clark
The ideas for my stories were conceived during my time in Jersey. As anyone who was as fortunate as I to have been there during those time will tell you, there was no place like it.

I was a printer in England before I left for Jersey to escape the boredom. Jersey was a melting pot of accents, every county in England was represented, as were the Irish, Welsh and the Scots.

Every night was a Saturday night, and as the saying goes... "The craic was good in Cricklewood when Paddy came to town!"
